September Fun Fly - Where's the wind?

Who forgot to order the wind???? The weather was nice, not too hot, not too cold, but a very light wind. My meter showed around 5-8 kph near the ground. It was a struggle to get pretty much anything high enough to stay up on its' own.

Fred managed to get his mini octopus up for a mere 15 or 20 seconds, long enough for me run run over and snap a picture.

Tyrone got this delta up high, so it stayed in the air!

Greg and his son had their dual liners out and managed to put on a bit of acrobatics routine.

I managed to fly my Revolution Blast a few times. The sail made a buzzing noise as I did spins and tricks. It made it seem like there was more wind than there actually was.

We had a short meeting on the strategy for the final kite fly of the season. As many of you might remember we decided to add a dinner aspect to the October fly, as the weather is very unpredictable at this time of year. We also had a small paper bag auction and a draw for a cake. We plan to do the same this year but instead of providing the chile and sausages, we are going to try a pot luck. We are arranging to rent the same hall that we used last year. Everyone will be encouraged to bring something to help out. Bob will send out an email nearer to the end of the month to alert you all of the details. We also realize that the date for the fly is October 31st, but some communities will be having the kids go around on the Saturday. I'm sure that the dinner will be wrapping up in time for everyone to get home to give out candies. Let's hope for some nice weather to wrap up the year's flying season.
