July 2007 Monthly Fly

Sunday July 29 was sunny, not too hot and winds from the north east. There were about 25 kiters for most of the day. The wind was finicky as it always is when it is coming in from this direction. The kites had to be real high to get the steady consistent wind. Near the ground the winds were from 9 to 16 Kph, and on occasion non-existent.

As you can see by the pictures, there were various interesting kites and line laundry afloat in the sky and during the windless times, on the ground.

During the afternoon there was a short meeting to discuss some loose ends for Canal Days coming up the first weekend in August. Saturday night is the setup and Night Fly. Don't forget your high powered lights. We will have the spotlights again this year to light up the kite trains. Sunday is the main event. Flying demonstrations will be from 10:00 to 4:30. Don't forget to sign in at the registration table for the barbeque. There are lots of prizes this year with the grand prize of a Boreal Rokakku.

Monday is the Kites and Kids event from 1:00pm til about 2:00. Looks to be a great event, so let's all hope for great weather and good winds off the lake.
